What are Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks resemble scar tissue but are not caused by injury or incisions to the skin. They are mostly caused by weight gain, rapid growth, or pregnancy. They can appear red or pink in color. Sometimes they can be itchy. The most common areas will be on the torso, back, or stomach. However, some people mainly have stretch marks on their arms or legs and buttocks.

What is the treatment?

Our specialists use the Opus laser system by Alma technology over the stretch marks in your skin. The treatments will minimize the appearance of the stretched skin, making them hard to see.

Alma Lasers’ Opus Plasma is the next level in fractional skin resurfacing technology. This first-of-its-kind technology provides you the benefits of fractional skin resurfacing without the long process or extensive downtime. This quick, 15 minute outpatient treatment is usually performed following the application of a topical anesthetic. The Opus Plasma offers visible results after as few as one treatment, with optimal results after a completed series (at least 3 treatments). As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, Laser Beauty Med Spa is excited to be on the cutting edge by offering Alma Lasers’ Opus Plasma technology.

How many sessions are needed?

On average most people need between three and five treatments to achieve the maximum reduction in stretch marks. However, everyone is different. We will estimate how many sessions you need when you schedule your consultation.

Is it painful?

Most clients describe the feeling as if they have a mild sunburn in the treatment area. However, it is manageable, and you shouldn’t find yourself in major pain.

Do Stretch Marks go away on their own

Most of the time, no. They may reduce their appearance as the mark will closely match your natural skin tone. But they are still there – the most effective way to eliminate these noticeable marks on your skin is through laser treatments.
