Laser Hair Removal

Remove unwanted hair with laser treatments

Laser hair removal is the most popular hair removal treatment as its effects are long-lasting compared to other treatments such as waxing and plucking. It is also less expensive and less painful than other permanent hair removal options, such as electrolysis.

Laser treatments are perfect for both men and women. For women, we can remove unwanted facial hair or have you ready for the bikini season without waxing. For guys, we can remove unwanted hair around your shoulders and back. However, we are not limited to those areas alone. Your body is your temple, and we can remove any unwanted hair on your body that you desire. Laser Beauty and MedSpa center will enhance your beauty and give you amazing results that you can see and feel. Call us today to schedule a consultation!

How do laser treatments work?

Laser treatments target the hair follicle directly. During your treatment, we will use a specially mounted laser device on your skin. The laser burst is over in a flash – the melanin and pigmentation within the hair follicle absorb the laser energy from the burst, but the surrounding skin is unaffected. When the hair absorbs this energy, it will damage the follicle, cutting it off from the blood supply and preventing it from growing.

All hair follicles on your body grow in different cycles which is why multiple treatments will be necessary to eliminate the hair in the affected area.

Depending on the amount of hair within the treatment area we recommend between 8-12 treatments approximately 4-8 weeks apart. This will give you the best chance at successful hair removal.

Things to know before your appointment

Before your treatment, you must not pluck or wax the treatment area. Laser treatment requires the presence of the hair follicle to be removed. If the follicle is missing your body will regrow it later, making the laser treatment less effective. You will want to shave the area thoroughly right before your treatment to try to get the hair as close to skin level as possible. If needed, our friendly staff can provide you with a razor to touch up any areas.

Finally, ensure that there is no makeup, fragrance, deodorant, or any other thing applied to the treatment area as this will prevent the laser from being effective.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal offers long-term hair removal that in some cases can be permanent. However, your body produces hair growth based on a combination of factors such as age and hormonal levels. Hair can regrow over time, but it will not be in the same level of thickness as before. If you notice hairs regrowing, make a follow-up appointment and we can eliminate them quickly.

Another important factor that determines the success of laser treatment is the color of your hair. White, blonde, and grey hair lack the pigmentation necessary to absorb from the laser treatment. Dark hair such as brown or black offers the best chance for success.

Many people have a combination color of hair throughout their bodies – the best option of success for total hair removal is to use laser treatment on the dark hair and electrolysis on the light.

Is laser hair treatment painful?

The answer depends on how thick the hair is in the treatment area and the location where the hair is being removed. If there is a lot of hair in the area – the energy absorption can be intense for some. However, the intensity of the treatments declines upon further treatments.

Are there side effects?

The most common side effect is reddening of the area post-treatment. It may look like a minor sunburn but often it dissipates within minutes. After your treatment, you will want to avoid direct sunlight and UV lights. This can lead to a condition known as hyperpigmentation which can cause discoloration of the treatment area. It is recommended you wear at least an SPF30 sunblock or higher and exfoliate the treatment area to remove the dead hair which will push up through the skin.
