What is Melasma?
A number of people will have melasma at some time in their lives, which occurs when uneven blotches of dark skin appear on the face, neck, and forearms. These tan, gray, or brown patches normally develop evenly on the brow, nose, cheeks, upper lip, or chin. Melasma is found more often in females with darker skin tones and is thought to be triggered by UV exposure or hormones, like those that occur during menopause and pregnancy. Our board-certified nurse practitioner, Lori Turner, performs melasma treatment at Laser Beauty and MedSpa Center with cutting-edge Alma Harmony XL PRO laser technology. This innovative treatment uses powerful laser energy to help minimize the appearance of pigmented areas. Reserve a consultation at our Highland, IN practice to determine whether laser treatment for melasma might help elevate your confidence and renew your skin tone and appearance!
"I did their new laser service. After just one session the hair grows much slower and is much less coarse!! I can't wait to continue until it is all gone! The procedure is truly virtually painless, you feel warmth and a little hair pulling but I personally did not feel any pain and was pleasantly surprised! Nurse practitioner Lori and Amber made me feel so comfortable and walked me through the entire process. I will definitely be back to do other body parts and get more treatments. Thank you Lori and Amber you guys did amazing, very happy with the results! 😍"- S.P. / Facebook / Apr 10, 2021

Laser melasma FAQ
What causes melasma?
As a prevalent skin concern, melasma can occur during any stage in an individual's life. It's most commonly believed to be the result of hormones, like those that accompany birth control medications and pregnancy. Other sources that are often associated with melasma include damage from UV rays, stress, and familial history.
How does laser treatment for melasma work?
When utilizing the Harmony XL PRO laser handpiece, we will direct a targeted beam of light into darker spots on the top layer of your skin. The light will help to diminish hyperpigmentation, allowing it to then be absorbed by your body. While these spots could take on a darker appearance at first, they should become less noticeable after a week or so.
Does melasma come back after laser treatment?
Though laser treatments can work to reduce the appearance of melasma, more tan, brown, or gray splotches could occur over time. Periodic treatment sessions might be needed to help extend your results.
What is the cost of laser melasma treatment?
At Laser Beauty and MedSpa Center, the pricing for treatment for melasma with laser technology is determined according to your personal skin concerns. We will create a treatment program to help target your desired outcomes and talk with you about the simple payment options accepted at our Highland, IN facility.
